Empowering Aging with Tech

Category: Technology and Safety

Author: Becky Gibson, Resident Services Director

Older Adults Are Embracing the Digital Age

When people think about older adults and technology, outdated stereotypes often still come to mind—like resistance or a complete inability to understand it. But today’s reality tells a different story. Many aging adults are not only embracing technology but actively seeking tools that make life easier, more connected, and engaging.

Technology use among older adults is steadily on the rise. A 2024 national AARP survey revealed that 66 percent of respondents said technology enriches their lives by helping manage daily tasks and fostering connections. From video chats with loved ones to health monitoring apps, older adults are becoming increasingly fluent in the digital language of convenience—and they expect their living environment to keep up.

How the Arrow App Supports Connection and Engagement

At Vitalia North Olmsted, staying connected is about more than just having Internet access. It means offering real, user-friendly tools that make everyday life smoother. The Arrow App is a perfect example. With just a few taps, residents can access daily menus, event calendars, community updates, wellness resources, and even communicate directly with staff.

The app has already made a positive impact by giving residents easy access to real-time updates. Whether it’s an event schedule or an alert about a location change, the information is right at their fingertips. As we continue to grow its use, we plan to integrate the app more deeply into daily life at the community.

Residents especially enjoy placing food orders, browsing upcoming events, and setting reminders. A favorite feature among many is the “Daily Sparkles” shared through the news section—uplifting messages that have become a cherished part of their day.

Preparing for the Future of Senior Living

Beyond the current benefits, the Arrow App positions our communities for the future. As a new generation enters senior living, they will bring with them even higher expectations for digital access and integration. By investing in these tech-friendly tools now, we are ready to meet those needs with ease and innovation.

The Arrow App is more than a convenience—it is a commitment. A commitment to bridging communication gaps, empowering residents, and enhancing the overall living experience. With technology as a partner, the future of senior living is not just bright—it is connected.
