National Assisted Living Week is a special time when assisted living communities come alive with celebrations that bring residents together. It’s a chance to share stories, make memories, and enjoy events that show the strong bond among residents, caregivers, and families. This year, the theme is Season of Reflection. This week is all about celebrating our residents and staff who make this environment amazing. It is a recognition of working together and creating opportunities for independence, connection, and enrichment.
At Vitalia North Olmsted, we are honoring residents’ lives and experiences by celebrating each decade from the 40s to the 80s. Scheduled events include a tea party, soda shoppe, disco bingo, jazzercize, and neon Happy Hour. As the Resident Services Director, I am most excited to celebrate the 80s, as I grew up in the decade of big hair and fun!
Taking the time to celebrate National Assisted Living Week is important. To me, Season of Reflection means recognizing everyone who lives here had a much different life from their current experience. Hearing stories of people’s families, upbringings, interests, experiences, and lives in general creates connections.
It’s not only a time to celebrate, but also an opportunity to appreciate the staff and volunteers who make assisted living communities what they are today! This week highlights the power of connections, memories, and the spirit of togetherness that makes every resident feel at home.
