Arrow Senior Living is known for doing things a little differently and challenging the status quo within the industry. It’s just who we are! Even with all the technological conveniences of today such as social media and websites, it is still common to meet individuals with a skewed perception of what senior living looks like. In this blog, I want to share my senior living journey, why I remain committed to the industry, the biggest myth I believe exists, and how to help others overcome the myths surrounding our beautiful Vitalia North Olmsted community and services.
My journey to the Executive Director position at Arrow Senior Living has been one of continuous growth. I joined Arrow in 2018 as a Care Coordinator in the wellness department, dedicated to the residents’ well-being. Progressing to the role of Memory Care Director, I provided specialized care for residents with unique needs. Transitioning to Business Office Director further expanded my administrative skills and operational management understanding. With guidance from an exceptional Executive Director and support from a company that recognized my dedication, I stepped into the role of Executive Director.
Despite daily challenges, it’s the deep affection for our residents and community that keeps me returning. Residents’ trust in our team serves as a constant reminder of our responsibility to their well-being. Our diverse team, each bringing unique strengths, contributes to our ability to provide exceptional care and support.
The biggest myth in senior living, in my opinion, is the belief that moving to senior living means losing independence. Independence is redefined to suit each person’s preferences and needs. Senior living offers amenities like scheduled meals and enriching activities, fostering social interaction. Residents have the freedom to choose amenities based on their preferences, allowing them to remain as involved in community life as they desire.
