National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. These permanent dates enhance planning and position National Nurses Week as an established recognition event. As of 1998, May 8 was designated as National Student Nurses Day, to be celebrated annually. And as of 2003, National School Nurse Day is celebrated on the Wednesday within National Nurses Week (May 6-12) each year. The nursing profession has been supported and promoted by the American Nurses Association (ANA) since 1896.
Pam, Director of Wellness, has an amazing rapport with the residents and families. She is always willing to help her coworkers and assist with problem solving and brainstorming new ideas for the success of the community. Her wellness staff can count on her to jump in and help whenever needed.
Residents would say Pam is always there to help and addresses items very timely. And their comments about the wellness team would be they are great, very caring, and compassionate. The wellness team stepped up and ran the community while we did not have a Director of Wellness. Sheila, my nurse manager, took on most of the responsibility without hesitation. She is compassionate about her job and residents, taking on the Director of Wellness role without question to make sure the community ran smoothly. Sheila always has a fantastic and fun attitude even in high stress situations she is calm and collected.
The wellness team stepped up to support the community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic by picking up extra shifts, ensuring our residents had a safe, caring community, and helping day to day life continue as normal as possible.
We will recognize our nurses at VITALIA Active Adult Community® – North Olmsted North Olmsted, OH during National Nurses Week through fun activities, raffles, and special creative follow ups.
