Established by the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) in 1995, National Assisted Living Week® recognizes the role of assisted living in America while providing a unique opportunity for residents, their loved ones, staff, volunteers, and the surrounding communities to recognize the role of assisted living in caring for America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities. The annual observance encourages assisted living communities around the country to celebrate the individuals they serve while simultaneously educating members of the public about what assisted living truly looks like.
This year, VITALIA Active Adult Community® – North Olmsted is celebrating the 2022 theme of “joyful moments” from September 11th to September 17th by recognizing how each department plays a role in creating joy for our residents and staff members.
Being a leader in senior living is the most rewarding experience. As a leader you have been chosen to be a part of not only your residents’ day to day lives, but your staff as well. You are honored with experiencing the great times and the not-so-great times. Your residents’ families have entrusted you with the care of their loved one. It’s like having an extended family of over 100 grandparents.
Our team creates joyful moments on a regular basis in our community by taking time in the morning during stand up to check in with one another and see how our previous day was, both at work and at home. We celebrate both small and large milestones and accomplishments, and we laugh together.
Several residents responded when asked, “What brings you the most joy living at VITALIA Active Adult Community® – North Olmsted?”
“The conversations around dinner and lunch, I look forward to it every day! The people are so friendly, gathering, and group activities. The deserts bring a lot of joy! My first morning of having breakfast with Bill and Jeanette, they were so welcoming and sweet. Moving in and having Katarina and staff welcome me to VITALIA®!”
Mary C.
“I love all the trips, especially boating. The beautiful people and atmosphere.”
Francis N.
“Going to the Mystic Bell in Vermillion, this was a favorite outing.”
Joyce O.
“I am able to have Ginger, my dog, here and I enjoy the freedom of not having to manage household chores.”
Doris
“The people and friendships and activities. The people, staff, and food. We were here first, the first to move in. They were so welcoming and open.”
Carol S.
“The friendliness of the community, the laughs, and jokes. I enjoy not cooking.
Betty G.
“The people and not cooking or cleaning. Our big event for “best of,” my family had so much fun.”
Mary R.
We plan to make National Assisted Living Week special in our community with brunch, fun foods, and events for both residents and staff.
Follow us on Facebook to witness all our joyful moments, but especially from September 11th to September 17th as each department celebrates National Assisted Living Week and the many ways each team brings joy to our community staff and residents!
