As we wrap up 2023, we reflect on months past and what lies ahead with our community’s journey.
If you recall, our Personal and Professional Development Coach, Michael “Buck” Buckley. Challenged us to pick a “Word of the Year” in January 2023. Buck asked us to look inward and consider what we need more of or what might improve our lives. The time has come to revisit our Word of the Year for 2023 and explore its impact on Vitalia North Olmsted. Whether you’ve been an active member or are just joining us, this retrospective journey invites us all to celebrate the past year.
Our community Word of the Year for 2023 was ‘empowerment.’ We achieved many successes throughout the year, living in line with our word and improving the community.
As a community, we faced a fire incident in May, and our recovery has been a testament to our collective strength. The rapid response from our team was instrumental in ensuring the safety and calmness of both residents and staff during this challenging period.
The Mayor visited and officially declared a special day in honor of Mary Salamon. Our first centenarian, aptly named “Mary Salamon Day” to commemorate her milestone birthday. The community strengthened its ties with the local school district, welcoming Chestnut Elementary for a Halloween walk. Additionally, the community was honored by the volunteer efforts of North Olmsted High School during Veterans Day.
The Great Place to Live and Work Surveys proved to be a resounding success, with 100% participation from residents and staff. The Department Head team and staff in North Olmsted collaborated seamlessly during a Joint Commission Survey, showcasing a united and coordinated effort. This collaborative approach not only emphasizes the dedication and professionalism of our team but also reaffirms our commitment to upholding high standards of care.
The community is actively fostering empowerment as we collectively navigate through the changes we’ve implemented. Embracing empowerment in our community means encouraging autonomy, confidence, and collaboration among all members. This approach recognizes the ongoing transformations and empowers individuals to contribute and adapt to the changes actively.
Our community is eagerly anticipating growth in both census and staffing. We are excited about the opportunities to expand our resident population and enhance our team. Moreover, we are enthusiastic about strengthening our relationship with the community.
As we bid farewell to 2023, we will carry forward the essence of our Word of the Year into 2024. The successes and strides of our community, the embodiment of our chosen word in our collective actions, are not just markers in time but a testament to the strength of this community.
