Each year, I select a Word of the Year to guide my personal and professional focus. As the Executive Director at Vitalia North Olmsted in North Olmsted, Ohio, the start of a new year provides the perfect opportunity to reset, refocus, and prepare for the challenges ahead. Reflecting on 2024, I’m amazed at how much my Word of the Year influenced my decisions, relationships, and growth throughout the year.
My Word of the Year for 2024 was present. This word shaped every aspect of my leadership, encouraging me to actively engage with residents and participate in community events. I prioritized being a visible presence in daily activities, ensuring residents felt supported and valued.
Additionally, I focused on being a strong presence for my department heads, offering consistent support and guidance. This approach helped build trust and demonstrated my commitment to fostering a cohesive and supportive team environment. Witnessing the growth and success of my team has been one of the most rewarding aspects of this year.
The lessons from present have highlighted the importance of being fully engaged in every moment. This focus not only strengthened relationships but also created a solid foundation for continued growth and development within our community.
As I step into 2025, my Word of the Year is growth. This word reflects my commitment to building upon the foundation established in 2024. My goal is to foster both personal and professional development while supporting the ongoing success of our team and community.
Growth represents a mindset of continuous improvement. Whether it’s enhancing my leadership skills, empowering team members, or elevating the experiences of our residents, I am excited to embrace the opportunities ahead.
